Hello, I am Sophia
A project manager. A parent. An expat living in Ottawa, Canada.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
Origins
Moving to Canada wasn't in our long-range plan. As with many expatriate moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far grander.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complex than they needed to be.
The Adaptation Phase
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Created Mellow Island Map
Most online guidance fell into either corporate relocation advice or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Canada.
